Roy Weatherby founded a rifle, shotgun, and cartridge company in 1945 in Paso Robles, California. Weatherby is especially known for high quality hunting rifles with powerful magnum cartridges. The proprietary cartridges are characterised by a double radius shoulder and are only chambered in Weatherby rifles. Rifles are built with strong actions to handle high chamber pressures, often leading to highest velocity for a commecially produced caliber.
